On Wednesday, September 8th, the House Education and Labor Committee released a draft of its legislation for the Budget Reconciliation package that would implement a large portion of President Biden’s infrastructure proposal. The proposal contains significant amounts of funding for OAA programs. In addition to the Education and Labor proposal, the House Ways and Means Committee released their portion of the reconciliation proposal on September 7th. The Ways and Means committee proposal includes funding for nursing home workforce development, elder justice, and adult protective services.
ADvancing States developed a memorandum outlining some of the proposals that are important for aging and disability services. Of note, the House Energy and Commerce Committee has not yet released their recommendations. Energy and Commerce has jurisdiction over the Medicaid program, so there remain a number of HCBS proposals not yet released. ADvancing States will provide updates as more information becomes available about any of the relevant issues.
